In January 1998, Brent returned for a second time to Sabah, Mayalsia (on Island of Borneo). He not only loved climbing Mt. Kinabalu, he loved the people and the place.

Ramadan was during January 1998 and Brent was keen to experience the local culture and celebration. Here he gets dressed up in local garb so he can go into a mosque and get into the spirit of Ramadan.

...he even trys his had at some local dance moves!

Then it is off to the local cemetery to honour one's ancestors.

Here is the extended family who welcomed Brent, Duane and a few other visitors.

Then it is off to climb Mt. Kinabalu with Duane. By this time brent had been up a half dozen times and trained many of the mountain guides on mountain-rescue - so he didn't need a guide and wasn't required to have one.

The view at 06:00 was amaziong as Mt. Kinabalu is the only elevated area of the entire Island.

Later, Brent offered a course for Sabah residents to experience Mt. Kinabalu off the beaten trail and Eric Yu and one other person joined him for the course.

Later in the year, he returned to Canada to work with Outward Bound. Here he shows up at a party wearing only balloons and a banana around his neck.

He was obviously a big hit!
