In 1996 when Brent graduated from the University of Guelph, he started working with Outward Bound Canada, Outward Bound in Florida with youth at risk, NOLS (Wyoming and Utah, USA), Project Dare (youth at risk), Outward Bound Sabah (Malaysia) and Mountain Equipment Co-op. 1994 - Complete Outdoors Nut
Brent was a 'complete outdoors nut' at University. He'd go off on camping weekends to Algonguin Park - in February - and biking in any weather. His jacket always had that brown streak up the back. When he was at home he was eagerly cooking for friends. Nothing simple for Brent - dessert would have to be Pavlova.

1981 - Exploring Canada
In 1981 the family did a few more trips - the biggest one through Quebec and the Maritime provinces. It would turn out to be the last family trip as Duane (and later Brent) became teenagers and wanted to be more independent.

1980 - Close to Home
After a 15 month round-the-world trip, the next years were spent just getting back into the routine of life in Orillia (and paying off the trip for Barry & Gloria!). Brent & Duane returned to school to find little had changed while they were having the adventure of a lifetime.

1979 - Taking it Easy
The last two months of the round-the-world trip (Jan. & Feb. 1979) were spent in Australia and New Zealand before returning to Canada. But it didn't mean Brent couldn't get up to some mischief!

1978 - Bitten by the Adventure Bug
For the entire 12 months of 1978, the family was travelling. In January 1978 we were in Central America and by December 1978 we were in Australia. Between that time we visited more than 25 countries on 4 continents - all at the age of 5 & 6 for Brent and 7 & 8 for Duane.

1977 - Discovering the World
In November 1977, the family set off for a 15 month round-the-world trip. We drove from Canada to Paraguay in an 8 year old VW van and then continued on by coach, plane, another VW Van in Europe, car, boar, train, etc. until we returned to Canada in early 1979. Brent & Duane did school via corespondance, Barry had a leave of absence & Gloria resigned.
